The skin of the lid and surrounding parts is at first pale, but soon becomes intensely red, and remains so for some hours after the douche has been removed. Lachrymation occurs at first, but dimin ishes as the application is continued. The bulbar conjunctiva shows a moderate, uniform injection and the cornea becomes more shiny The pupil at first becomes more dilated and then contracts. So far as could be determined. Accommodation and tension remain unchanged.
