Au mois de septembre 1823, Léon Xll était monté sur le trône de saint Pierre, et sous son autorité infiexi-i ble les fortes et antiques institutions continuaient a sor tir de leurs ruines ou de leur état (l'inaction. Le Collège Romain fut rendu a la Compagnie de Jésus par ordre exprès du pontife, et le R. P. Perrone, déjà revêtu du sacerdoce, reçut ordre de monter dans la chaire qu'a vaient occupée avec tant d'éclat Bellarmin, Suarez et Vasquez. En 1880, il fut envoyé aferrare pour gouver ner le collège de cette ville, en qualité de recteur, et durant cet espace de temps, qui ne fut que de trois ans, le clergé de cette ville s'estima heureux d'assister aux conférences morales que le R. P. Perrone avait été chargé de faire. Rappelé de nouveau a Rome en 1833, il reprit l'enseignement de la théologie dans cette chaire du Collège Romain qu'il ne devait plus quitter que lors que l'intolérance des démagogues l'exilerait loin de sa patrie, ou que l'obéissance l'obligerait de se consa crer au gouvernement de quelque maison de la Compa gnie.
