Excerpt from The Epic of the Fall of Man: A Comparative Study of Cædmon, Dante and Milton

It is a comparative study of two existing poems, and does not profess to touch upon any outlying questions, however fascinating or important they may be in themselves.

In this study I have taken, as the basis of my translation of Caedmon, the text of the Jumian manu script, edited by Mr. Benjamin Thorpe, for the Society of Antiquaries of London col lated with the original manuscript, preserved in the Bodleian Library at Oxford.
