Perhaps no truer criterion can be given than this: the golden rule of our Savior. It is my constant endeavor to place myself,ih imagination, in the Situation of the slaves; and tons I never fail to plead earnestly.we must meditate much,to feel and act properly. The danger is not,l think,that we shall suffer our thoughts to dwell too much upon the cruel'slave - system, but that our ardor may expire with the novelty of the subject.
