Sinopsis

Selected physics abstracts from the early 20th century—quick insights into key experiments and theories.

This compilation presents concise summaries of recent work in physics, including spectroscopy, radiation, electrical phenomena, and atomic theory. It highlights methods, setups, and the main findings without revealing full articles, offering a snapshot of the era’s research focus.

Readers will encounter topics such as light and spectra, Zeeman effects, luminescence, X-ray research, particle interactions, and the structure of materials, all described with emphasis on experimental approach and result trends. The material is suited for students and professionals who want an accessible, research-oriented overview from that period.

  • Brief summaries of experiments and theoretical discussions from notable papers.

  • Descriptions of methods, apparatus, and measurement approaches used by researchers.

  • Highlights of how new findings fit into the evolving understanding of physics topics like spectroscopy and atomic structure.

  • A curated glimpse into the problems scientists were investigating, with emphasis on evidence and interpretation.

Ideal for readers of historical physics, quick reference for students, and anyone curious about early 20th-century scientific progress.

Excerpt from Science Abstracts, 1913, Vol. 16: Section A.-Physics

The author has also studied the reflection of homogeneous fi-rays, and it is shown that the slow rays reflected when fi-rays of urx fall on matter [see Abstract N o. Are due to reflection of the slower portion of the primary beam. From the results it is deduced that there is no necessity to assume the existence of a real secondary when p-rays strike matter. E.
