It is recommended that this work should be used in conjunction with the first part of the Principia Latina, and not be postponed till the pupil has finished the latter. As soon as he has learned thoroughly the Declensions and Conjugations, and can translate the simplest sentences, it is important to diversify the somewhat dry and tedious work of the Delectus and Exercise-book by giving him connected passages containing interesting and instructive matter. [the section on Geography, though printed be fore the Roman History, had either better be postponed till the latter has been finished, or else be read occasional ly, accompanied with an Ancient Atlas.] The dictionary is intended to contain every word in the text, including Proper Names, and it is hoped few omissions will be found in it.
