The reading exercises, to be translated from French mto English, commencing at Lesson Twenty-seventh, possess this important peculiarity. They present no grammatical principle which has net been previously taught the learner. The first contain nouns and pro nouns of the masculine gender only, verbs only in the present of the indicative, and in all other particulars are confined to the learner's present grammatical knowledge.
