Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book contains a historical record and transcription of the proceedings and speeches surrounding the formation of the Women's Canadian Historical Society of Toronto in the 19th century. Beginning with a resolution passed by the Provincial and Pioneer Association of Ontario, this book describes the efforts of women such as Miss Mary Agnes FitzGibbon and Mrs. S.A. Curzon in the founding of the society, despite a lack of initial support and recognition. Also included is a record of speeches and a selection of papers presented at inaugural meetings. The speeches and presentations provide a fascinating glimpse into the Canadian social and political climate of the period, as they sought to define Canadian national identity and the ideals of patriotism and loyalty. The book concludes with a discussion of the lasting significance of the Women's Canadian Historical Society of Toronto, highlighting its role in the preservation of Canadian history and the empowerment of women in historical research. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
