Sinopsis

Master geometry made practical and accessible for every learner. This renowned, user-friendly text guides readers from basic shapes to theorems, proofs, and real‑world applications, with a clear emphasis on usable, concrete understanding rather than abstract rhetoric. The edition preserves a tradition of plain language and plentiful worked examples that help students build confidence as they study plane and solid geometry.

This volume lays out a complete program in geometry, spanning plane figures, circles, proportional reasoning, areas, and the study of solids. It also provides step‑by‑step construction problems, extensive exercises, and an emphasis on seeing how geometry connects to algebra and measurement. The book’s approach prioritizes accessible proofs, well‑defined terms, and a practical path from concepts to applications.

- Full, worked proofs that model independent problem solving
- Large, clearly printed exercises organized for repeated practice
- A logical sequence across Plane Geometry and Solid Geometry, with helpful appendices
- Concrete definitions and early use of instruments to develop practical skills
- Topics include rectilinear figures, circles, proportion, areas, regular polygons, cylinders, cones, polyhedrons, and the sphere
- Problems of construction and real‑world applications in mensuration and measurement

Ideal for students beginning formal geometry, teachers building lesson plans, and anyone seeking a solid foundation in geometric thinking through clear explanations and plentiful practice.

Excerpt from Plane and Solid Geometry

That is, a physical solid can be touched and handled; a geometric solid is the space that a physical solid is conceived to occupy. For example, a stick is a physical solid but if we put it into wet plaster, and then remove it, the hole that is left may be thought of as a geometric solid although it is filled with air.
