Excerpt from Further Development and Testing of a Direct Reading Dynamometer: Thesis
The previous work is briefly described by Nilsen as follows:- The purpose of this thesis is to give the history of the development of an apparatus Which measures mechanical power directly; that is, this dynamometer is to the transmission of mechanical power what the wattmeter is to the transmission of electrical power. In.his thesis he gave a description of the various dynamometers in existence together with the fundamental conception of power upon.which all have been based. He pointed out that previous to the present development, all so called dynamometers have measured merely torque or force, which is not power. The conception of the present machine was to measure power directly.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This meticulously researched book introduces a ground-breaking direct reading dynamometerâ"a machine capable of measuring the mechanical power transmitted through a rotating shaft. Built on the legacy of previous iterations, this version overcomes inherent imperfections to achieve reliable and precise measurements. The author provides a thorough examination of the dynamometer's design, tracing its evolution and demonstrating the innovative use of distributed poles and skew windings. The machine's ability to accurately measure varying electromotive force and reactance is also explored, revealing its versatility in various applications. By incorporating these advancements, this dynamometer pushes the boundaries of power measurement, opening up new possibilities for researchers, engineers, and technicians seeking accurate and reliable data.
