Instead of leaving the city during the time of the yellow fever, 1793, he remained in the city, and was a leader of those who devoted their time and money to the establishing of hos pitals for the relief of the sick. No doubt many lives were saved through his action, although he became a prey to the disease and died while engaged in the good cause. Their children were Esther, David and Frances.
