Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a collection of essays and letters assembled by the author, an Anglican clergyman, to arouse public opposition to a government plan to introduce a new copper coinage in Ireland. At the time, Ireland was an English colony, and Irish affairs, including currency, were subject to the control of the British Parliament. The author argues that the new coinage, produced by a private contractor, William Wood, was greatly overvalued and would cause economic hardship in Ireland. The author was not opposed to all forms of new coinage but rather to this specific proposal, which he believed was unfair and exploitative. The book is a powerful example of political pamphleteering and was highly effective in rallying the Irish people against the new coinage, which was never widely accepted. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
