The Old Testament tells the story of the Hebrew people, and how Jehovah their God took care of them and prepared them for the coming of the Messiah, Jesus the Christ. This Story runs for about fifteen hundred years, from the call of Abraham to the prophecy of Malachi, about four hundred years before Christ.

The scene of this story lies in that part of the world now called Turkey in Asia. Find it on your school map. It IS a dry, hot country, and the greater part of it has always been a desert. Near the corners of our map we notice four seas, the Caspian Sea on the northeast, the Per sian Gulf on the southeast, the Red Sea with its two gulfs on the southwest, and to the westward the eastern end of the Mediterranean, or Great Sea.
