Excerpt from Sermons Preached Before the Congregation of the Presbyterian Church, Corner of Fifth Avenue and Nineteenth Street, at the "Memorial Services" October 9 1859, Appointed in Reference to the Death of Their Late Pastor, James Waddel Alexander, D.D
You will bear me witness that he whose de parture we so much lament, did preach Christ as the Messiah, as the eternal Son of God, as the only source of truth, as our righteousness, sancti fication, and redemption. From Sabbath to Sab bath, publicly, and from house to house, he tes tified that this is the true grace of God; and thus preaching, he was made of God to you a savor of life unto life.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a compilation of the sermons of a pastor known for his commitment to preaching the gospel. The author believed that salvation was a work accomplished for humanity, not by them; that their duty was to accept what was offered to all, without money and without price. His sermons were not only instructive and encouraging but also effective in calling his hearers' devotional feelings into exercise. The author's main focus is on the power of Christ over the religious affections. He believed that the work of salvation had been accomplished for them, and was not to be done by them. The author was successful in his ministry, not only in the conversion of sinners, but in comforting and edifying believers.
