When the maker of the world becomes an author, his word must be as perfect as his work: the glory of his wisdom must be declared by the one as evidently as the glory of his power is by the other and if nature repays the philosopher for his experiments, the scripture can never disappoint those who are properly exercised In the study of it.

Gentile nations, and the separation of the He brews. It foretels the manifestation of a Sa viour in the esh; the rejection of the Jews; the calling and conversion of the heathens; the establishment of the Christian Church, with its preservation against the powers of the world, and the gates of hell. It treats of a Spiritual life, and renewed affections in its members; that they must even be born again in a spiritual manner; and return to a state of childish simplicity in their understandings; it assures us of the resurrection of the body after death; of the future judgment of the world by the man Jesus Christ; Of the glorification of the faithful, and the condemnation of the wicked. It opens to us an invisible world of spirits, some of whom are in alliance with God, and others in rebellion against him; as suring us withal, that every man will have his final portion with the one party or the other.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a thorough study of the figurative language and symbolism used in the Bible by providing original interpretations of biblical texts from the perspective of the 18th century. The author demonstrates that the meaning of words and symbols in the Bible is not always literal, but rather metaphorical and allusive. The author argues that this metaphorical language is employed to make the Bible more accessible and relatable to its readers, while also allowing for multiple interpretations and insights. The book also examines how the context of the Bible's writing, including historical and cultural factors, can contribute to a deeper understanding of its figurative language. The author's approach is practical and exegetical, offering detailed analyses of passages from the Old and New Testaments to illustrate the principles of biblical interpretation. Ultimately, this book highlights the power and depth of the Bible's message and encourages readers to engage with its texts on a deeper level.
