A rich, illustrated chronicle of Woburn’s burial grounds and their inscriptions. This edition gathers historical notes, epitaphs, and urban growth details from the Second Burial-Ground, offering a window into the town’s past through stone and story.
From early burial practices to the evolution of the yard and its monuments, the book compiles era-by-era epitaphs and notes that illuminate the lives of residents, local events, and community memory. It presents inscriptions as they were recorded in 1847, alongside explanatory context about the grounds, notable interments, and the town’s development over time.
Ideal for readers interested in local history, genealogy, and the material stories embedded in old cemeteries.
