Excerpt from Timothy and Rhoda Ogden Edwards of Stockbridge, Mass;, And Their Descendants: A Genealogy
Some ten years ago I was applied to by the late Edmund D. Halsey, Esquire, of Morristown, New Jersey, for information concerning the Edwards descendants of Rhoda Ogden, he having in hand a Genealogy bf the descendants of Robert Ogden, 2d, father of Rhoda. I consulted the Tuttle Genealogy, which includes the Edwards family from the mar riage of Elizabeth Tuttle with Richard Edwards, in 1667; also the Dwight and the Stoddard Genealogies; but found all of them deficient and often unreliable for the generations later than Timothy Edwards, of Stockbridge. This called my atten tion to the importance of preserving our family records while some membersof the third generation from Timothy were still living. I myself belong to that generation, and I remember several of the children of Timothy, and knew part of these well.
