I am always impatient to hear from you. Daily I feel the want of your companionship, and indeed this feeling instead of lessening grows continually stronger. I am sadly alone in all scientific matters. My heart is full when I think of the days when we worked so successfully together, and know that this cannot be in the same degree our lot again. But we can help each other still, and will do so with unforgetting affection.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the genesis of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from its inception as an idea to its establishment as a world-renowned institution. After the first meeting in 1846, the plan for a polytechnic school in Boston was revisited in 1859 and set in motion by William Barton Rogers. The author discusses Professor Rogers' efforts to secure public and financial support for the school, including his role in the creation of a memorial for the Massachusetts Legislature. The book also sheds light on the debates surrounding Charles Darwin's groundbreaking work, On the Origin of Species, and the impact of Rogers' review of the book on the scientific community in the United States. The insights into Rogers' tireless pursuit of scientific education and innovation make this book a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of education and the origins of one of the world's leading technological universities. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
