Throughout the text, principles which are presented are explained with descriptive expositions or with worked-out arithmetical. Examples. Also, at the end of each of the 16 divisions there are questions to be answered and, where justified, problems to be solved by the reader. These ques tions and problems are based on the text matter in the division just preceding. If the reader can answer the questions and solve the problems, he then must be conversant with the subject matter of the division. Detail solutions to all of the problems are printed in an appendix in the back of the book.
