Sinopsis

A gentle allegory about choosing a better path when fear and messiness crowd the way.

In this story, a young girl named Marjorie travels with a playful, troublesome Dream through a swamp filled with mud, islands, and hovering doubts. A kindly, guiding figure helps her see that the real obstacles are not others’ voices or mysterious creatures, but the inner “errors” she can learn to recognize and release.

As Marjorie learns to distinguish fear, anger, and discouragement from real danger, she discovers a dry, bright road that leads to a city of possibility. The journey blends imagination with a hopeful message about self-belief, resilience, and the power of looking at problems in a new light. This edition invites readers to reflect on their own inner challenges and the steps they can take to move forward.

  • Meet Marjorie, a girl who learns to name and handle her own doubts.
  • See how inner “errors” can cling, bite, or distract, and how to release them.
  • Discover a brighter path that appears when fear is faced with clarity.
  • Embrace a hopeful, practical approach to self-discovery through vivid imagery.

Ideal for readers who enjoy tender, uplifting parables about self-confidence and starting anew.

Excerpt from On the Way There: A Wonder Tale for Boys and Girls Both Little and "Grown Tall"

I don't see what you are good for, anyway, said Marjorie, crossly. It's queer that I can't go to bed and to sleep quietly, without a horrid old Dream like you coming to bother me.

The Dream balanced himself on the foot board and cracked his heels together saucily. He was little and thin and brown' and he wore a tight fitting brown velvet suit, and very pointed little brown velvet slippers, and a little brown velvet cap perched jauntily on one side of his head.
