Nevermore, Vol. 2 of 3 continues the gripping Australian tale of loyalty, justice, and the rough edge of fate. This installment follows Lance Trevanion as he faces trial, prison life, and the pull of freedom on the harsh edge of the sea. Rich in atmosphere and character, it deepens the moral questions that haunt the first volume, while advancing a plot packed with tension and turning tides.
The narrative threads pull tight around courtroom drama, tense testimonies, and the daily grit of life behind bars. It blends historical detail with a stark meditation on justice, honor, and endurance. As the pages turn, readers glimpse the undercurrents of loyalty and love that move a young man toward a dangerous brink—and toward choices that shape his future and that of those who stand by him.

Before leaving for Melbourne Mr. England had indeed almost guaranteed that he only needed to be placed on his trial to be acquitted, asserting that no jury in the colony could possibly find him guilty upon the evidence brought before the Bench; that a committal was very different from a con viction that some magistrates made a point of committing for trial all prisoners brought before them so as to escape responsibility; that Mr. M'alpine had a habit of acting in that way; that he (john George England) would take the shortest odds that the jury acquitted Lance without leaving the box.
