His Holy Spirit be fo furnifhed and fo feparated for the Work which they {hall be called unto, that they may be a Means of bringin Peace again into our Borders, even that paifeth ail Underftanding, and which {hall prevail to the eftabliihing of Truth, and to the Introduction of that Kingdom for which we patiently attend. Now therefore to crown your Elections, and~to fecure your own Safety, if there be any of your Knights or Bzxrgefles whom you know or probably fufpcct to be unfaithful to their Trig/t, by holding Intelligence with your Enemies 3 by doing his Duty negligently, or not at all; by complying or plotting with Malig nants (as in the Confpiracies and Apoftacies of Waller, Hotlzam, and fuch like) by protecting, countenancing, or concealing dan~ gerons Delinquents; by cunningly obiiructing the Courfe of jet/lire, or Propojitions, tending to the common Welfare, or advance of Piety and Good-manners; by difiracting or dividing the Miniilers or Agents of Parliament in their Execution'of their Ordinances; by difcountenancing, oppofing, tor difplacing thofe from Employment in the publick Service, who have givenemi nent Proofs of their Uprightnefs, Fidelity, and good Affection to their Country; If, I fay, any whom you have chofen {hall have, by thefe or by any fuch like Courfes, juilly caufed Jealoufies to arife, let (according to Equity and your late Covenant) Informa tion be fpeedily exhibited againfl' them, with fuch Proofs 'and Probabilities as you have thereof, that fuch may be purged or removed, and others (if need be) eleé'ted in their Steads, for the abating of your Fares, and for the Prevention of your Dc triments 3 either of which are confiderable Motives.
