Excerpt from Application of Front Tracking to Two Dimensional Curved Detonation Fronts
1. Introduction. The application of the method of front tracking to two dimensional fluid flows with curved detonation fronts is examined. We study as test problems two cases of cylindrically symmetric expanding detonation waves, namely a strong detonation and a CI detonation. These problems can be solved accurately using a one dimensional random choice computation with operator splitting. We find that the solutions to these problems using front tracking converge linearly to the random choice solutions and give satisfactory answers on moderately coarse grids. We thus conclude that front tracking is a valuable method for com.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a fresh approach to understanding the phenomenon of curved detonation fronts, mathematical constructs used to study fluid flows with curved discontinuities. The author, an expert in the field, offers insights gained from his application of a novel method called front tracking to model these fronts, laying bare the complicated dynamics at play. The book is a valuable contribution to the field, providing a better understanding of how curved detonation fronts behave and broadening our knowledge of fluid dynamics.
