It is not intended, in the amount of artillery and cavalry here Specified for a brigade, containing about four thousand in fantry, t fix definitively the proportions which these arins of service s ould in all cases bear to each other. These propor tions depend upon many exigencies, and are continually chang ing. As a general rule, however, the numbers here assumed are not far from correct, and will, at all events, serve to illuso trate the manoeuvres of these diflerent arms in conjunction.
