The present volume of the appleton arithmetics covers the work usually taught in the seventh and eighth grades.
Like the two preceding books, it is a text for the pupils' use and, with suitable modifications, continues to use the mode of presentation of its predecessors in the series. It reviews and summarizes the theory of arithmetic, furnishes more difficult drill, extends its applications into advanced business arith metic, makes use of the equation in the solution of arithmetical problems, and introduces such algebra, geometry, and measure ment as prepare for high-school work.
