Shaker Sermons, Scripto-Rational (Classic Reprint): Containing the Substance of Shaker Theology Together With Replies and Criticisms Logically and Clearly Set Forth - Tapa blanda

Sinopsis

Discover a window into 19th‑century Shaker thought through the sermons and essays in this collection. It invites readers to examine core beliefs, practice, and the search for spiritual truth.

Written by a Shaker elder who lived the principles he describes, the book blends theology, history, and critique. It traces how Shaker ideals—purity, equality, and nonviolence—shape a disciplined, spiritual life, while engaging with questions about divine unity, Christ’s role, and the relationship between orthodox faith and spiritual experience.

• Clear discussions of harmony between truth and belief, and how to test doctrines by their fruits.

• Explanations of God’s nature, the infinite and the finite, and how this view informs daily faith.

• Insights on Christ, the meaning of “Christ in you,” and how followers are called to imitate His life.

• Critiques of religious dogma and a practical call to spiritual repentance and renewal.

Ideal for readers of religious history, theology, and those curious about Shaker beliefs and their approach to faith and life.
