Combination (9th S. Vi. - As several of the pupils had passed from Addition to Multiplication, it may be allowable to sur mise that those engaged on Combination were practising the twofold process Of adding a number of lines together and then sub tracting the same lines, in succession, from the sum and the separate results. This is only a suggestion, but it is based on the knowledge that such exercises in elementary arithmetic are given. Thomas bayne.
