Let two bodies move the fame way, and firike one an0ther directly. Nqw, fince aélion and te-aétion (by Ax. Are equal and contrary, and this action and re-aélion is the very force by which the new motions are generated in the bodies; there fore (by Ax. There will be produced equal changes towards contrary parts: And therefore whatever quantity of motion is gained by the preceding body will be lol't by the followmg one; and confequemly their fum is the fame as before.
