One of the cogent reasons for studying Latin is, that it helps the student to a knowledge of the Latin derivatives in English. But one does not study Latin solely or chiefly to learn its connection with English. The study of Latin in college is always with other aims. We hazard nothing in saying that one utterly ignorant of Latin and Greek would.
