Excerpt from Two Lectures on the Development and Present, Position of Chemical Analysis, by Emission Spectra
The two lectures in this booklet are based on a lecture delivered before the Sheffield Metallurgical Association, in December, 1924. They are now printed for the use of teachers of Chemistry, etc., with free permis sion to utilise them in their curriculum.
The publishers have already issued four booklets dealing with spectro scopic analysis. The matter in these booklets is only to a very slight extent duplicated, each of them playing a part in a scheme projected by the author some years ago, the intention of which was to encourage and facilitate the use in industrial laboratories of the spectroscopes and spectrographs made by Adam Hilger, Ltd.
Hilger Instruments in Industry, first published in 1919, and now in its seventh edition, is an alphabetical list of industries in which the instruments referred to are of value. Mention is made of some of the applications, but no details are given.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book narrates an intriguing tale of the development of spectrum analysis, a technique that allows scientists to identify the composition of substances by examining the light they emit or absorb. After decades of limited use, it began to flourish in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The author plays a key role in the revival of this field, creating new and more effective tools for spectroscopy. The book not only recounts the history of the subject but also delves into the science behind it, explaining how different elements produce distinct patterns of light. This understanding has revolutionized the fields of chemistry, metallurgy, and astronomy, enabling scientists to identify and study materials with unprecedented precision. By providing a comprehensive overview of the subject, this book serves as both a valuable reference guide and a fascinating historical account for anyone interested in spectroscopy, chemistry, or the history of science. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
