Excerpt from Handbook of Problems in Direct Fire
IT has been the object in the following pages to give prae tical solutions of all the important problems of gunnery relat ing to direct fire; and to illustrate the solutions by numerous examples, fully worked out in the manner which a considerable experience has shown to be the most simple and concise. For this purpose logarithms are habitually employed in making the numerical computations, as it is believed that by their use a considerable saving of time and labor is effected, and the liability to error reduced to a minimum. In the absence of a table of logarithms, however, nearly all the examples may be worked by simple arithmetic.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book, a fundamental treatise on indirect fire, covers the trajectory from beginning to end for every type of fire situation, offering a holistic understanding of the complex trajectory of a projectile. By delving into the formulas and their derivations, the author provides a new level of insight into this crucial area. The author's approach is characterized by rigor, and the explanations he offers for many complex concepts and ideas relative to indirect artillery fire are entirely original. With the help of many solved examples, the author transforms complex equations into handy tools that can be used for problem-solving in the real world. The power of the treatise on indirect fire as presented in this book is that it will allow the reader to explore new concepts and techniques on their own and will open new vistas in the study of the trajectory of projectiles.
