Excerpt from Variational Analysis of Some Conjugate Gradient Methods
In this paper we will not attempt to discuss the effect of roundoff on the error bounds. We only note that this issue was first treated by Paige [30] and Reid [34] and that recent results by Greenbaum [19] shed new light on the issue of the reliability of the error bounds, which are obtained while ignoring roundoff.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents an analysis of conjugate gradient methods for solving systems of linear equations. Conjugate gradient methods are a class of iterative algorithms that are used to solve large-scale linear systems that arise in various scientific and engineering applications. The book provides a unified framework for understanding the convergence properties and error bounds of these methods. The author shows how these methods can be derived variationally, which leads to new insights into their behavior. The book also discusses the use of preconditioners to improve the convergence of conjugate gradient methods. The author provides an overview of the historical development of conjugate gradient methods and discusses their relationship to other iterative methods. The book is a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners who are interested in the theory and application of conjugate gradient methods.
