This comprehensive book provides an overview of the wide range of printing and reproduction processes in use today, tracing their historical evolution from the mid-15th century to the present. The author details the complex and technical aspects of each process, from etching and engraving to photography and electrotyping, using clear language and numerous illustrations to convey the intricacies involved. The book not only serves as a practical guide for artists, engineers, and printers but also explores the artistic and industrial significance of these processes. It examines how photography has influenced other art forms, such as wood engraving, and discusses the emergence of new technologies like photolithography and chromolithography. By situating these processes within their historical context, the author reveals their impact on the dissemination of knowledge and the development of visual culture.
