Excerpt from A Spring and Summer in Lapland
The following work on the Fauna of Lapland is compiled from notes kept during a season's collecting up at Quickiock in 1862. These notes have, for the greater part, already appeared in the columns of the "Field" Newspaper; but the Editor having kindly given back to the Author the right of republishing, he has, at the request of several friends, collected them in the shape of a volume, with some slight alterations and additions, and again brings them before the public in another form, fancying that they may now be of more service to the naturalist and traveller than in the columns of a newspaper.
