Master the essentials of insect control with a comprehensive, field‑ready guide. This book surveys biological, chemical, and mechanical methods to protect crops, store products, and landscapes from pest damage, helping you choose effective strategies grounded in real-world practice.

Inside, you’ll find a practical overview of how insects interact with hosts, the ways climate and environment influence pest pressure, and the array of control options from natural approaches to modern fumigation and spraying technology. The discussion stays focused on usable methods, implementation considerations, and how these techniques fit into broader pest management.

  • Foundations of host resistance and parasite–host dynamics to inform management choices

  • Overview of insecticides, fumigants, dips, baits, and repellents with practical application ideas

  • Cultural and mechanical methods, storage protections, and regulatory considerations

  • Guidance on selecting approaches that match crop type, environment, and pest risks

Ideal for farmers, agronomists, extension agents, and students seeking a solid, applied reference on insect control.

Excerpt from The Principles of Insect Control

The branch of Biological Science known generally as Economic Entomology has made enormous strides within the last ten or fifteen years. Its progress may be said to be an outcome of the greater attention that is being paid to Agricultural Science. Improved methods of transport have given the Agriculturist and Horticulturist a Wider outlet for his produce, and the wheat fields of Manitoba and Illinois, the fruit orchards of California, Australia, and South Africa, the cattle ranches of Argentina and New Zealand, the cotton fields of Egypt and India, Uganda and Louisiana, have benefited accordingly. This wide distribution of food stuffs has brought about a corresponding increase in the range of injurious Insect pests, so that the adequate recognition of Economic Entomology and the scientific application of Insect Control measures are of increasing importance.
