What this firiving implies in It The fatal eonfequences of not firiving together with the happinefs and glory which will accrue to us, if we firive effectually, or fo as finally to enter in at the {trait gate And lallly, What eon nexion there is, according to the word of God, between firiving in the manner we may and ought to do, and actually obtaining what we aim at therein, the falvation of our fouls. It is propofed to enlarge much more upon the lalt of thefe points, than upon any of the others. In the firll place it will be proper.

These are the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, occasioned by a question that was proposed to him in the following terms: "Lord, are there few that be saved?" Who it was that asked this question, or what his views therein were, we are not particularly informed. However, it seems probable, by his addressing our Saviour under the title of "Lord," that this was one of his professed disciples.
