The early history of Printing has engaged an enormous amount of attention, and rightly so, for Printing was the handmaid to the New Learning, and the means by which the Reformation was accomplished. The epic of Paper making remains, however, yet to be written, and my investigations have been sufficient to show that when finished it will be a chronicle of deep and enduring interest.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating world of medieval papermaking and printing, uncovering the hidden meanings behind the enigmatic watermarks found on old paper. The author argues that these watermarks were not merely trademarks but emblems used by persecuted religious groups, such as the Albigenses, to communicate and express their beliefs in a time of religious oppression. The narrative takes us on a journey through the history of these groups, exploring their struggles against the dominant Church of Rome and their unwavering commitment to their faith. The author reveals how papermaking became a means of resistance, with watermarks serving as secret symbols of hope, resilience, and the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment. By deciphering the symbolism embedded in these watermarks, the author sheds light on the beliefs and practices of these marginalized communities, offering a fresh perspective on the Renaissance and the intricate relationship between religion and craftsmanship during this transformative period. Ultimately, the book challenges conventional understandings of history, revealing the enduring legacy of those who fought for intellectual and religious freedom.
