Exploring Baptist distinctive principles and practice A clear, argument‑driven look at baptism, church independence, and the Lord’s Supper. This edition presents a believer’s view on who may be baptized, how baptism should be performed, and why local churches govern communion.
The book builds a case for baptism by immersion, rooted in how baptism and discipleship are described in the New Testament. It also explains why Pedobaptist views are not accepted, and why believers are the proper subjects for baptism. Alongside this, it argues that each church is an independent body under Christ, responsible for maintaining the purity of its ordinances.
Readers will understand the connection between baptism, conversion, and the resurrection, as well as how church discipline guards the Lord’s Supper. The text emphasizes practical implications for church membership, interchurch relations, and the right to communion. It uses historical and scriptural reasoning to support these practices without relying on external authorities.
Ideal for readers of Baptist history and distinctives, this edition suits anyone seeking a concise, principled overview of Baptist approach to baptism and church life.

Excerpt from Distinctive Principles of Baptists
Baptism is a New Testament ordinance. This the Westminster Confession Of Faith concedes. The New Testament, therefore, should settle every question rel ative to baptism. This is the universal Opinion of Baptists. Pedobaptists, however, are not willing - as we shall see - to make an exclusive appeal to the New Testament in determining who are proper subjects of baptism. More of this in another place.
My Object at present is to Show that there is no authority in the New Testament for infant baptism. Let us see. To the law and to the testimony.

Excerpt from Distinctive Principles of Baptists
Baptist regard the baptism of unconscious infants as unscriptural, and insist on the baptism of believers in Christ; and of believers alone.
Before showing wherein Baptists differ from other Christian denominations it may be well for me to say that in many things there is substantial agreement.
As to the inspiration, and the consequent infallibility, of the word of God, there is no difference of opinion. The Bible Ls recognized as the supreme standard of faith and practice - that is to say, it teaches us what to believe and what to do.
Salvation by grace is a doctrine which commands the cordial assent of all Christians.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores a fundamental debate within Christianity: the practice of infant baptism. The author, a Baptist minister, presents a compelling case against the baptism of infants, arguing that it lacks scriptural support. He meticulously analyzes New Testament passages often cited in favor of infant baptism, demonstrating their insufficiency and often misinterpretation. The book's examination of the relationship between the Jewish theocracy and the Christian church offers a thoughtful perspective on a complex historical and theological issue. The author contends that the two institutions are distinct, arguing that the Christian church emerged as a new entity, requiring a conscious act of faith and repentance for entry. This exploration of baptism and its relationship to faith, repentance, and the church is a valuable contribution to the ongoing dialogue surrounding this vital aspect of Christian life. By examining the scriptural evidence, the author sheds light on the distinctiveness of Baptist beliefs and challenges readers to reconsider the foundations of their own understanding of the sacraments.
