Excerpt from Lectures on the Epistle of Paul, the Apostle to the Romans
You occasionally meet in the New Tes tament, with an express reference to a certain body of writings, which are desi nated by the term of Scriptures. E now apply this term to the whole Bible. But, in those days, it was restricted to that collection of pieces which makes up the Old Testament. For the new was only in the process of its formation, and was not yet completed; and it was not till some time after the evangelists wrote their nar ratives, and the apostles their communi cations, that they were athered into one volume, or made to stan in equal and co. Ordinate rank with the inspired books of the former dispensation.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the profound topic of spiritual enlightenment, drawing parallels between the physical act of seeing and the ability to perceive and understand divine truths. The author employs the metaphor of light and vision to explore the historical progression of spiritual understanding, from the darkness that followed Adam's fall to the gradual illumination offered by God's revelations. The book emphasizes the distinction between the external light of revelation, embodied in scripture, and the internal capacity for spiritual discernment, granted by the Holy Spirit. The author argues that while the external revelation is complete, the Holy Spirit continues to work within individuals, enabling them to comprehend and embrace spiritual truths. The text explores the role of obedience and repentance in cultivating spiritual understanding, suggesting that a sincere desire to follow God's will paves the way for deeper insights. By examining biblical passages and drawing on personal experiences, this book provides guidance for those seeking spiritual enlightenment, encouraging them to engage with scripture through prayer and reflection. Ultimately, the book underscores the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in illuminating the path towards a deeper connection with God and a richer understanding of His word.
