Fascinating wartime travel memoir that blends danger, wit, and unexpected friendship.
Set against the backdrop of World War I, this memoir follows a daring journey through occupied France. The narrator navigates close calls, shifting loyalties, and the uneasy balance between peril and humanity, all while maintaining a sharp, often dry humor that lightens the heavy moments.
In a tapestry of telegrams, embassies, and improvised stay plans, the narrative offers a front-row view of wartime life—its risks, its improvisation, and the quiet acts of kindness that endure amid chaos."Sinopsis" puede pertenecer a otra edición de este libro.

As he was being jettisoned for about the fourth time some distance from where he had first boarded the train, some one asked him where he was trying to get to. Slocan City, if the seat of my pants holds out, was his terse reply.

I desire to state right here that this humble literary effort does not in any way claim to be an addition to the formidable array of books on the technical side of the war. It is, on the contrary, merely a narrative compiled from the notes in my diary of a period during the early days of the war when I was "out" to get all the material I would - without, as will be seen, concerning myself overmuch with the regulations laid down at that time by the authorities "for the observance of war -correspondents."
As my wanderings were entirely within the zone of operations, it is obvious that the incidents I have described were always more or less connected with the theatre of the war - but they were happenings rather behind the scenes than on the actual battle - front.
