Excerpt from Nancy Lee's Namesake

When I first knew Nancy Lee she was just a pretty irresponsible schoolgirl. Everybody liked her, and she was always at the centre of all the fun there was going; but she was so careless, so heedless of her responsibilities, that her nickname among her friends was "Miss I-Forget." Her particular chums during her first year at Fair Oaks School were the Learned twins - the Terrible Twins, they proudly called themselves, because their escapades had been the talk of several boarding-schools before Fair Oaks. At Fair Oaks there always seemed to be plenty of things besides silly scrapes for lively girls to think about. "Nancy Lee's Spring Term," which comes after "Nancy Lee," tells the story of the greatest excitement of the school year. His name was Timmy Lee Marshall Raftery. Careless Nancy Lee found him - had him presented to her, as it were - and she passed him on to Fair Oaks School, which learned more from Timmy than from many books, and had only fun doing it.

After the spring-term story came "Nancy Lee's Lookout."
