Sinopsis

A tight-knit group of criminals bets on a dangerous, wealth-driven coup that tests loyalties to the limit.

In this tense crime drama, a circle of partners navigates schemes, wealth, and shifting loyalties. The master mind, Callaghan, promises a fortune, but every plan exposes hidden motives and dangerous rivalries. As key players confront risk and consequence, the story tightens around a single, irresistible target whose value goes beyond money.

From opulent rooms to shadowy corners, the narrative builds a climate of suspense where trust erodes and danger grows with each decision. The book blends sharp plotting with a keen look at power, influence, and the price of ambition.

  • Core group dynamics under pressure as schemes unfold
  • High-stakes wealth and the lure of a flawless plan
  • Shifting loyalties that threaten fragile alliances
  • A central figure whose presence reshapes the criminals’ ambitions

Ideal for readers who enjoy classic crime dramas that mix suspense, clever plotting, and character-driven tension.

Excerpt from The Man With the Brooding Eyes

Gentlemen, said Mr. Callaghan, I will declare a dividend.

He Opened a morocco case and laid a neat pile of bank-notes on the lacquer table beside him. Mr. Callaghan's air was that of a company-promoter presenting an unsatisfactory balance-sheet. Polish ing his spectacles gently with a silk handkerchief, he replaced them. His long white hand lifted a number of notes from the pile and laid them on one side.

"Gentlemen," said Mr. Callaghan, "I will declare a dividend."

He opened a morocco case and laid a neat pile of bank-notes on the lacquer table beside him. Mr. Callaghan's air was that of a company-promoter presenting an unsatisfactory balance-sheet. Polishing his spectacles gently with a silk handkerchief, he replaced them. His long white hand lifted a number of notes from the pile and laid them on one side.

"Vaille, two hundred pounds."

Vaille, dark and languid, admirably dressed, folded the notes with slender fingers and placed them in his pocket-book. There was a slightly contemptuous expression in his eyes.

"Drummond, two hundred and fifty pounds."

Harold Drummond, smart, fair-haired, and debonair, took his share with a smile.

"Thank you, Chief," he said genially.

"Slaney, three hundred pounds."
