Sinopsis

Excerpt from Shepard of Aintab

There is nothing which so Stirs the blood and inspires one with the desire to live a life that Shall count for something as reading the life of a man who so lived. The new glimpses of my father's life, coming to me from one and another of those whose lives he touched, have brought new inspiration as I have woven them, together with my own memories, into the story told in this volume.

It would be impossible in a short preface to acknowledge my indebtness to all who have helped in the preparation of this book. Much of the material has been taken from the briefer sketch bearing the same title, issued by the American Board, and written by Mr. Fred B. Goodsell, one of Dr. Shepard's younger associates. Other associates who have furnished many facts and incidents are Dr. Caroline F. Hamilton, Mrs. Isabel Trowbridge Merrill, Miss Isabel Blake, and Mrs. Alice Bewer Daghlian.
