Excerpt from The Recent Operations of the British Forces at Rangoon and Martaban
It has been attempted, in a concluding chapter, to continue the narrative from the time when it was so pain fully suspended by the author, to the middle of the following month; a period, which, however brief, will, nevertheless, be found to embrace the most important successes that have hitherto attended our arms - the cap ture of Martaban and Rangoon. The information for this purpose is chiefly supplied by a Gazette Extraordinary, published by Authority at Calcutta, April 26, 1852.
