Excerpt from Principles of Electrical Engineering Electrical
A preliminary edition of the book was published in 1910, primarily for the use of the students at the Institute, and this preliminary edition was preceded by mimeographed notes cover ing practically the same ground. The present edition differs from the preliminary edition chie?y in the addition, at the end of each chapter, of a summary of the important definitions and principles developed in that chapter and of a list of problems, with answers, illustrative of these principles. Certain sections of the text have also been rewritten, particularly the sections on energy, inductance, and capacity; the conception of linkages between the electric and magnetic circuits has also been more fully developed. The typographical errors of the preliminary edition have been corrected and additional steps have been inserted in some of the mathematical deductions.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fundamental physical principles that underpin electrical engineering. It takes a unique approach by first introducing the reader to simple experiments that illustrate these principles before presenting their more complex applications in electrical apparatus and machinery. The author emphasizes the importance of a strong foundation in physics for understanding electrical engineering, arguing that this knowledge is essential for navigating the intricacies of electric machinery and transmission circuits. This approach reflects the historical development of electrical engineering, which emerged from the discoveries of physicists like Faraday and Maxwell. Throughout the book, the author employs analogies, particularly between the flow of electricity and hydraulics, to help readers grasp complex concepts. The book also explores the interplay between electricity and magnetism, a topic that has been a central concern of physicists and engineers since the nineteenth century. The text's use of calculus from the outset reflects the increasingly mathematical nature of physics and electrical engineering in the early twentieth century. By combining clear explanations with practical examples and challenging problems, this book equips readers with a solid understanding of the theoretical and applied aspects of electrical engineering. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
