Excerpt from The Hamlet Problem and Its Solution
Two hundred years of critical discussion have not sufficed to reconcile conflicting impressions regarding the scope of Shakespeare's design in The Tragedy of Hamlet, No theory which has yet been advanced to explain the unifying motive of the drama has found universal acceptance among scholars, who, however they may seem to agree in their interpretation of particular passages, entertain widely divergent opinions concerning the character and conduct of the Prince of Denmark.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the mysterious motivations behind Hamlet's complex character. Scholars and critics have long debated the so-called Hamlet Problem: why does Hamlet delay in avenging his father's murder? This book argues that Hamlet's internal struggle is a moral one, between personal honor and an absolute, ethical duty. The author supports this theory by examining the text of the play, particularly the soliloquies, which reveal a profound exploration of the human condition and the nature of existence. The book places Hamlet within the broader context of Shakespeare's tragedies, exploring his role as a tragic hero and the play's universal themes of morality, justice, and the human struggle. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
