Excerpt from Anglo-Catholicism Not Apostolical: Being an Inquiry Into the Scriptural Authority of the Leading Doctrines Advocated in the Tract for the Times, and Other Publications of the Anglo-Catholic School
It is the boast of the Anglo-catholics that their system will fully abide the test by which the Monk of St Lerins has proposed that the true Christian faith should be discriminated from heretical corrup tions of it, viz., that it is that quod ubique, quod semper, quod ab omnibus creditum est. It is the design of this book, on the other hand, to show that to part, at least, of this boast their system is not em titled - that it has not always been received by all true Christians - but, that especially in the earliest days of the church, when under the infallible guid ance of the apostles, it was as a system either wholly unknown, or, so far as known, repudiatedand con demned.
