Excerpt from Evolution and Involution
1. Here is a pebble on the shore of the ocean. Let us like it up as a representative of inorganic matter. It is an existence by itself in the universe. What does it know of the universe? It knows nothing, so far as we know. What does it know of (concerning or about) itself? We know that it does not know anything of itself. According to the understanding and knowing of men, it is an existence by itself in the universe, and it knows nothing either of itself or of the universe. And the reason why it knows nothing of the universe is because it knows nothing of itself
2. There is a flower by the wayside. It is a higher existence in the universe than the pebble. According to the classification of naturalists, it belongs to a different kingdom of existence. It belongs to the vegetable kingdom; and the pebble belongs to the inorganised kingdom of nature. It has besides a sort of animation or life, called vegetable life. What does it know of the universe? Nothing. What does it know of itself?

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This thought-provoking book explores the concept of evolution and involution in nature, arguing that they are inseparable and that mankind has overlooked involution. The author posits that man is a typical unit possessing limits of potentiality and that the summit of the modern mind does not match that of the past. Through a close examination of the natural world, the book challenges the notion of evolution as expounded by Darwin and his associates, asserting that man has not evolved but is a being with inherent limitations of development. The author explores ideas such as personality, knowledge, morality, and the capacity for evil, arguing that man's knowledge is limited to ideas and that there is no objective reality independent of the observer. Ultimately, the book delves into the significance of existence and being, proposing that personality is the substratum wherein these concepts originate and terminate, and that a complete knowledge of existence and being is only possible within the realm of personality.
