Sinopsis

Excerpt from Bricks From Babel: A Brief View, Myths, Traditions and Religious, Belief of Races, Concise Studies in Ethnography

The following short studies in Ethnography were written chiefly in the British Museum. In an age when so much blatant doubt has assailed the statements of the Scripture on all topics in Science or Ancient History, it seemed a proper work to give a clear and concise view of the results reached by various learned ethnologists, philologists, and archaeologists, and to show that a consensus of the best learning and most patient research, ranges an ultimatum beside the monumental Tenth Chapter of Genesis. The stones in the wall have lately lifted up their voice against arrant unbelief. Every year, we could say every month, inscriptions are discovered and deciphered, in Egypt, Assyria, Asia Minor, each one confirmatory of the others, and of the Sacred Record. I have not desired to make this an elaborate or technical work. The abundant foot-notes from the best authorities, suffice to guarantee the various statements of the text.

Betwixt the world destroyed, and world restored. Paradise Lost, Book XII.

The same day were all the fountains Of the great deep broken up, and the windows Of Heaven were Opened. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills that were under the whole Heaven, were covered. Thus Simply does Holy Writ describe that tremendous event, which all races of men have exhausted their vocabularies in, endeavoring to depict, and which, while it changed the face of nature, and altered the current of the history Of humanity, left also its indelible impress upon the' hearts of men, and stands at the beginning Of every known cosmogony.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the intriguing story of humanity's origins and dispersal across the globe, drawing upon a blend of historical accounts, biblical narratives, and insights from renowned scholars and philosophers. The author embarks on a captivating exploration of the early chapters of human history, commencing with the profound event of the Great Flood and the subsequent journey of Noah's descendants. Central to the book's narrative is the Tower of Babel incident and the resulting diversification of languages, which propelled the scattering of people to different corners of the earth. The author meticulously traces the migratory paths of these early populations, shedding light on the formation of distinct cultures and civilizations. As the narrative unfolds, the reader is introduced to the unique characteristics, languages, and religious beliefs of the three primary branches of humanity descended from Noah's sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The book's exploration extends beyond mere historical recounting, delving into the philosophical and theological implications of these ancient events. The author contemplates the origins of language, the development of diverse belief systems, and the enduring quest for meaning that has characterized human existence throughout the ages. Ultimately, this book offers profound insights into the interconnectedness of humanity, demonstrating how the echoes of our shared past continue to shape the world we inhabit today. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
