Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating history of the nomadic empires of Eastern Asia, drawing parallels with the rise and fall of empires in Europe. The narrative begins with the earliest encounters between the Chinese and the Hiung-nu, a powerful nomadic people who dominated the northern frontier. Through meticulous translations of original Chinese sources, the author reconstructs the political landscape, social customs, and military strategies of these ancient nomads. The book then traces the rise of the Hiung-nu conqueror Meghder, whose empire rivaled that of China. Meghder's campaigns and diplomatic maneuvers are compared to those of Hannibal, highlighting the significance of these often-overlooked events in world history. The author emphasizes the cultural exchange and intermingling that occurred between the Chinese and the nomads, despite their frequent conflicts. As the narrative progresses, the book explores the rise and fall of subsequent nomadic empires, including the Sien-pi, Jwen-jwen, Turks, and Ouigours. The author sheds light on the complex relationships between these empires and China, revealing how nomadic adventurers even became emperors of North China. By examining the administrative systems, religious beliefs, and military tactics of these diverse groups, the book offers a nuanced understanding of the nomadic world and its lasting impact on Chinese history. Ultimately, this book challenges the traditional Eurocentric view of history by showcasing the rich and dynamic history of the nomads of Eastern Asia. It demonstrates how these empires shaped the political and cultural landscape of China and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the course of world history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Nº de ref. del artículo: 9781330587515_0
